Pay structure context
6th CPC to 8th CPC: what actually changed
Implemented from 2006
6th CPC
Used pay bands and grade pay, with minimum basic pay set at ₹7,000.
Implemented from 2016
7th CPC
Introduced the pay matrix, a 2.57 fitment factor, ₹18,000 minimum basic pay and a 3% annual increment.
Recommendations awaited
8th CPC
The final fitment factor, pay matrix and minimum basic pay have not been notified. Calculator figures remain scenarios.
